Fire Investigations

REdmond Fire & Rescue is responsible for determining the origin and cause of fires and explosions within our fire district. These investigations play a critical role in improving public safety, preventing future incidents, and supporting accurate reporting and recovery efforts.

What to Expect After a Fire

Experiencing a fire can be overwhelming. After the fire is extinguished and the scene is ecured, a fire investigation is typically conducted to determine how the fire started. Understanding what happens next can help ease uncertainty during a difficult time.

Fire Scene Examination

A fire investigator may examine the scene to identify the origin and cause of the fire. This process may involve documenting conditions, examiing fire patterns, and collecting relevant information. The duration of an investigation can vary depending on the size and complexity of the incident.

Scene Access

For safety reasons, access to the fire scene may be temporarily restricted during the investigation. Once the investigation is complete and the scene is deemed safe, property owners will be advised when access can be restored.

Coordination with Other Parties

Fire investigators may coordinate with building officials, law enforcement, insurance representatives, and utility providers as needed. This coordination helps ensure accurate documentation and supports recovery and repair efforts.

Reprting and Information

Upon completion of the investigation, the fire's cuase is documented. Property owners, insurance companies, and other authorized parties may request available information in accordance with public records laws.
